The first board meeting for the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) for the 2009/2010 year was last night and the museum has so much on its plate that it's quite amazing! I have never been this excited about being a member of an organization before. The biggest and most exciting thing for me that the Museum has right away is the opening of the Marcel Breuer exhibit! The word "inspiring" does not encapsulate what his work does for me. On Tuesday, Oct 27th at 6:30pm is the Patron Opening. The exhibit will run through January 2010, and I encourage anyone who is not only a fan of design, but anyone who has questioned where to place a piece of furniture, see this exhibit . For those of you who aren't familiar with Breuer, he was one of the most influential designers of the 20th century! If you are even the slightest fan of Bauhaus art, design and architecture, then you are a fan of Breuer.
I know that in my industry Bauhaus has been thought of as the influence for clean geometry in hair, so I personally want to take this one step further. My newest Avant Garde collection is going to be based solely on shapes, poses and angles design and created originally from Marcel Breuer and recreated by myself using hair and models as my media. Please look for this collection to be finished and released Spring of 2010!
